Biography engraver: Giovanni Marco Pitteri (1702-1786) was an Italian engraver from Venice and one of the most important interpreters of Venetian painting in print. He collaborated closely with Giovanni Battista Piazzetta and translated many of his compositions into engravings using a refined stipple technique that anticipated later stipple engraving developments. Biography artist: Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (1682-1754) was a major Venetian painter and draughtsman of the late Baroque period. Known for his dramatic chiaroscuro and expressive religious figures, he influenced many engravers and students. His compositions were widely disseminated through prints engraved by artists such as Pitteri.
