This solid brass lamp is made using the traditional Welsh specifications. In the late 1800’s the chimney was often made of mild steel and then enameled to prevent sparking when it came in contact with rock in the mines. The Black Bonnet historic model is offered as an attractive choice for presentation and use in the home. The base of this lamp is tooled from solid brass because brass does not spark when it hits rock and is therefore the safest metal to use underground. The lamp is functional for personal use and burns lamp oil (kerosene). Each lamp comes individually packaged and contains a single internal gauze, comes with instructions, a brief history, weighs more than 2.75 pounds, is 10“ high and 3.5“ in diameter. We do not always have the tubes available so we vary the presentation.
